Notes on my 1966 BMW R50

In preparation for the "Alaska" trip, I decided a little maintenance was in order. I was getting some very liquid grease coming out from the rear wheel bearing, and getting on the rim and tire. So I decided to clean and repack the wheel bearings. Not sure if they have ever been done.

Here are the parts from the front wheel. The parts are the same for the rear, except for the tube that the bearing on the left is on. The front wheel axle is smaller diameter than the rear.

The bearings came out easily with a little heat from an electric blower (I used the one from my airplane covering tools) and using the rear axle as a drift.
