Alaska II Tuesday

Tuesday, September 18

We stayed at the Super 8 in Wooster last night. We met for breakfast at the hotel at 8:00 AM, and were ready to leave a little before 9.

Here's Carl finishing packing his Harley.

Meanwhile, Dick is plotting the route on his trusty GPS.

First stop was Mohican State Park, just outside of Loudonville.

This is a beautiful area, where Carol stayed in the late 70s with Aunt Doris and Uncle Wil. This isn't what I expect Ohio to look like!

The park features a 1000' wide, 370' deep gorge. It turned out that it was very difficult to get a picture which really captured the scene. Here is our master photographer setting up.

And the resulting picture! This really was a beautiful area.

Dick took theses pictures as we were driving, and it will give you some idea of the area we were traveling through. Most of the day was in the Amish area of Holmes and Knox counties. We were treated to beautiful scenery with rolling hills and gorgeous fields, plus windy roads with little traffic. It doesn't get much better than this!

These pictures were taken by Carl. This was a great ride!

Carol said that this trip really was her Bridge of Dreams! This is a covered bridge over the Mohican River.

State route 541 was an absolute delight! Twisty, winding, up and down, what a great ride!

We arrived at the Super 8 in Mount Vernon about 5PM. Had dinner at Jake's next door to the motel.

A wonderful day!

Mileage, 150.
